A GIRL'S BAND by Marilina Giménez
Argentina. 2018. 83 '. Documentary. VOSTF.
A chronicle of the female rock and queer scene of Argentina since the punk wave of the 1980s. If her band, YiLet, has long since separated, Marilina Giménez has remained in close contact with the protagonists of the genre. Beyond the stage, this is an opportunity for these artists to lift the veil on the life on tour, sexist harassment on the certainty that a single man ruins the atmosphere of a girl's band.
Marilina Giménez, bassist for six years of the band Yilet, traded her bass for a camera. In this night tour of Buenos Aires, old bands like "The She-Devils" play with rocks and bottles, while newcomers "Chocolate Remix" and "Miss Bolivia" reinvent reggaeton and pop. These dozens of women pushing the boundaries of music are also big activists fighting for legal and safe abortions, determined to indelibly mark the music scene led by girls in Argentina. A euphoric musical and political documentary!
