■ 1 / Chloé & Vassilena Serafimova "Sequenza"
The fertile encounter of a French electro producer and a marimba virtuoso.
Nothing should have crossed Chloe, woman-machine clubbing and infra-worlds electronic, with Vassilena Serafimova, classical musician of Bulgarian origin. However, since a first collusion of their universe in 2017, where they revisited Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians, the two women never leave each other, feeding each other to achieve a fusion between the beats and the sounds of one with the marimba of the second. After experimenting together at Studio Venezia, in the French pavilion of the Venice Biennale initiated by the visual artist Xavier Veilhan, Chloe and Vassilena continue their dialogue, add their opposites, and this unique alliance between the cold rebelliousness of electro and the The marimba's aerial grace is the result of a singular musical formula, which takes on its full dimension live, in a high-flying instrumental body. Called Sequenza, this unprecedented concert is the matrix of their future joint album.
■ 2 / Apparat
Back on stage of the most sensitive landscape of German electro.
After a long parenthesis under the alias Moderat, fruit of his musical morphing with his compatriots Modeselektor, Sascha Ring found in 2019 his Apparat for a new album, LP5, and a tour. The DJ and musician from Berlin, master chameleon and follower of multitrack collaborations, is never as moving as when he folds inward his inspiration to create atmospheric songs with evanescent beauty, irrigated by his laptop science and his sensitivity as a melancholy songwriter. In recent years, he had preferred to put himself at the service of live performance (War and peace at the theater), cinema (Mario Martone's Revolution, prize for the best soundtrack in Venice) or the plastic arts, thus leaving his little intimate carousel. We will be eager to hear LP5, following the splendid The Devil's Walk published eight years ago. With the guarantee that this wave jammer will still surprise us.
