"Unconventional Love Tomboys and Transmen at Myamar" by Chiara Luxardo and Sara Magni
This exhibition presents unconventional love stories through the testimonies of ten Burmese couples who decided to break the silence.
After a long military dictatorship, Myanmar is liberalizing but
SOGIE minorities (sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression) remain discriminated against by law and society.
Many transgender men call themselves Tomboy because there is no Burmese word for gays or lesbians other than insults. Becoming a transgender man is more socially accepted.
Chira Luxardo, World Press Photo nominee Joop Swart Masterclass 2017 is an independent photographer for NGOs.
Sara Magni, independent photographer.
