A new group will be born in Lyon for all LGBTI people + victims of validism.

Validism is a set of discourses and representations based on the belief that people with disabilities are inferior to able-bodied people, which leads to their invisibilization and discrimination.

We decided to create this self-help group because of the silence around the validist violence that most people with disabilities suffer on a daily basis and because people with disabilities are invisible in LGBTI communities. We wish to come together in order to pool our experiences and produce a collective voice on both validism and LGBTphobia. Our struggles wanting to be intersectional, sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, grossophobic, classist, and obviously validist comments, will not be tolerated

Of course, able-bodied accompanying persons are welcome.

Supported by the Chrysalide association which is a trans self-help association, this first meeting is open to all those concerned with validism, who come from LGBTI + communities.

For a more friendly atmosphere, consider bringing something to snack on, drinks (for a fee) being available at the bar.

Do not hesitate to contact us for any info or request.

Meet on Sunday January 26, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the LGBTI Center in Lyon: 19 rue des Capucins, 69001 Lyon.
