Marche des Visbilités LGBTI - Strasbourg - 2019
🏳️🌈 VISIBILITY MARKET 2019 🏳️🌈
While transphobic and homophobic (re) populisms are popping up all over the world, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, a milestone and symbolic event of LGBTI activism.
That night of June 28, 1969, in the Stonewall Inn in New York, marginalized people revolted against oppression: transgender people, prostitutes, effeminate boys, African-American lesbians. ..
Although LGBTI rights have largely increased since then, these people still remain the most denigrated and are regularly the subject of violent comments, particularly on their physical form, both by other LGBTI people and by rest of society.
Dating apps are often controversial by not moderating profiles or discriminatory messages ("no asian," "you're over 40, grandpa, let me go" ...). A lesbian is still treated daily as a "truck driver" since she is a little round and has short hair. "Follophobia" is on the rise, the current norm being to bodybuilded bearded men. Transgender people are still so ridiculed about their appearance ...
To pay tribute to our past heroes and defend the most discriminated among us today, let's walk together on June 15 to reaffirm that neither our sexual orientation nor our gender identity or our sex, our physicality must not be a reason for exclusion. Whatever our skin color, our morphology, our age or our handicap: our body is not a second closet!
