When tuning meets the art of drag. Guillaume Lebègue dares to come together in an exhibition where the automobile and the body are embellished, exaggerated, made spectacular. Sharing however the same paradigm of the performance, automobile and drag queen move away as much as they embody opposite archetypes of the masculinity: the one hegemonic, manly, dominant; the other homosexual, effeminate, dominated.
The artist reclaiming the codes and techniques of automotive desing gives the history of the automobile with the individual diversities that have crossed. In the Cronenbergian fusion of bodies and automobile parts, he blurs the boundaries, those of the organic and the mechanical, the feminine and the masculine, the visible and the invisible. If no longer flesh, the machine-bodies of Guillaume Lebègues fragment, decompose and disguise themselves to reveal the mechanics that animates them. They exhibit their most intimate anatomy, between flamboyant pride and disguised shame.
Turbo is the acceleration needed to tilt the body in liminal areas, spaces where science fiction meets reality, where the cyborg wear lipstick, and where cars scroll on the catwalks.
