VERGEL, by Kris Niklison
Argentina, Brazil. 2018. 86 '. Fiction. VOSTF. Forbidden - 16 years old.
On vacation in Buenos Aires, a woman is faced with the sudden death of her husband. The funeral procedures, the heat and a neighbor who comes to water the plants meet in an emotional journey in which it is impossible to distinguish the real from the unreal.
Vergel is the moving portrait of a woman who is confused and hard-pressed by mourning (subtly interpreted by Camila Morgado). Cloistered in her apartment, she slowly takes back life thanks to her meeting with her neighbor (Maricel Álvarez), who will act as confidante, assistant and soon lover. The scenes of sex between the two, intense and beautifully filmed, constitute one of the axes of this moving story about the anxiety and the desire, the sorrow and the guilt, the temptation of the death and the rediscovery of the life. Sublimely photographed, an existential drama as sensual as it is captivating.
