Pride in Prejudice: Exploring casual racism in the LGBT+ community.
The LGBT+ community is often famed for its avant-garde, progressive and inclusive attitude. However, with the advent of hookup apps such as Grindr, there has developed an unashamed notion of entitlement to 'preference'.
Is declaring a racial preference... racist? Or are we all entitled to openly declare our preference for one ethnicity over another?
This event hopes to explore both racism and prejudice in the LGBT+ community and open our eyes to experiences of racism in the dating world!
The event will have a screening of Queer Britain's 'Preference or Prejudice', followed by members of the LGBT+ community sharing about their personal experience of sexual racism, ending with an open discussion with the audience.
Not to be missed!
*This topic is very sensitive and controversial, and we would like to remind that UCL LGBT+ believes in safe spaces and mutual respect*
